Oda’s falling short with his story, what is it about One Piece that makes it the most popular manga?

He's stronger that Caesar but when you're made of gas it might really hard to stop him from running away, and part of what Law wanted was for Caesar to not tell Doflamingo (Joker) that Law was here. So if he just faught him he might have not been able to stop him from telling Doflamingo, but he decided to play along in order to do what he needed to without Doflamingo finding out what he was doing.

Yeah, that is a legitimate critisism of One Piece, Oda really struggles to kill off characters in the main story, he doesn't mind doing it a lot in flashbacks, lots of characters die there, but in present time he really struggles to kill characters. And it's not the same a dragonball, as you say, there's still a method that has to be taken to bring characters back in DB at least. It's something that for the most part has to be accepted, but every now and then there is a death here or there but it's very rare so you only really have Ace and Whitebeard as deaths in the present story that had any impact for you.

Law initially asked Caesar to let him stay on the island and not tell Joker. He even traded his heart to win over Caesar’s trust to avoid Joker’s eyes. Despite being much weaker, Caesar Clown has the ‘Joker’.
