Bench is decorative only (because it is base game version), but I hate when my items not playable. I'll try to make invisible chair, so you can place it on bench for your sims can sit on it.

Looks really nice. Love the invisible chair idea as well.
I remember in sims 2, sims couldn't sit on bed the way they are sitting in sims 4, only nap/sleep. And someone created a pillow acted like a invisible chair/sofa. It was really great! All the time I've used it.
