The Devouring Menace - 024
🕑 Added 2023-10-25 15:33:56 +0000 UTC"I sleep for a few hours and this is what I get for indirectly saving human asses." I didn't know whether to cry or laugh.
"How undependable!"
I was frustrated and angry toward them but realistically, I knew that in their own point of view, the decision to keep me stranded in the Anteverse was the best option they could ever come up with.
"Why am I even irritated anyway? Instead of being angry and despondent over being locked away in a barren dimension, I should begin looking for ways to escape." I clicked my tongue before looking at the devastated earth around me.
I didn't know how long I had slept. My mind has been kind of in a sluggish state ever since I woke up.
'I don't know what kind of changes I have experienced after evolving once more.' I thought and decided to see my new status.

"Scion of Qzllo'ekla? Child of Ancient Terror? I don't remember ever being someone's child in this new reality." I chuckled at the new identities shown on the refreshed status window.
"It sounds eldritch and Outer God-esque. Could it be that Primordial douche has something to do with this change? Man, why the mystery though? Well, things are getting more interesting." There weren't even explanations for the new titles so I didn't stress over the matter.
'My race has also somehow changed from unknown to Amorphous aberrant. Oh, it's good that it even has a toggle switch for explanation.' I mused as I hurried to know what the hell the new race meant.
++++
[Amorphous aberrant: a race of eldritch origin capable of assimilating the genetic materials of other races. The more complex a genetic code is or the more the being of this race consumes higher lifeforms, the more they can endlessly evolve into higher existences. The DNA of an amorphous aberrant cannot be replicated or decoded in any way by those who like to tinker with the origin of life.
Perk: Infinite potential, Endless evolution]
++++
"Isn't this a combination of basically the Zerg and something eldritch?" My eyes widened in wonder.
"I feel reassured that my 'source code' won't be compromised or altered by maniacs. I would feel bad if I had a clone made out of my DNA, hehe."
"With this, my growth won't have any limits like other inferior existences." A little bit of pride took over but after some time, I promised myself not to get complacent.
After all, what's the use of a genius talent who can't mature and dies early?
There were already stronger entities out there that could casually snap a finger and annihilate an entire reality. Some could even devour universes and multi-dimensions for snacks. And here I was, a little amorphous aberrant, acting all smug over a 'little' bit of potential.
But then again, I had the qualifications to deem other races as 'inferior'.
My mindset had slowly begun to evolve and change, the more I grew stronger. A showcase of 'racism' at its best, pfft.
"Wow, I don't see the wingspan thingy. My wings…" After waking up, I didn't take any time to inspect my physical alterations.
I looked at my back and realized that I was truly wingless.
"They are gone."
I then looked through my list of abilities and there it was - a better form of 'wings'.
"Telekinetic Flight and Telekinetic defense field. I think these two superb skills may have been brought into fruition by the mysterious identity BS or maybe it's the evolution doing what it does best." I thought aloud, my eyes showing slight confusion and understanding.
"This is what makes evolution unpredictable and beyond reason sometimes. "
"I like it."

[Telekinetic Flight: Psionically lift yourself from the ground using Telekinetic coercion. Why is gravity pulling me down? Use your mind to tell the ground to stop holding you back from flying. As simple as that! The duration of the flight is determined by your mental energy.]

I chuckled at the bullcrap the AI likes to write.
"Next."

[Telekinetic defense field: Working in Conjunction with Telekinetic Flight, is the Telekinetic defense field which forms a thin invisible protective field around the user to shield against negative outside factors like friction or hydrogen bombs. Grants invulnerability against physical attacks. It may be bypassed through inconvenience means.]

"Good stuff. Reminds me of Godzilla Earth's Asymmetrically Permeable Shield."
I then closed the status window and looked at the horizon.
There was no concept of day and night in this alien dimension.
I had the impression that the Precursors could control that if they wished. It's not like it was a difficult thing to do for certain types of civilizations.
If I had to scale the Precursors according to the unrealistic Kardashev Scale, then they would roughly fall between Type I and Type II.
Since I was curious if I was alone in the Anteverse, I decided to take a tour.
The Anteverse was big but not as big as Earth and since I had the time, I said why not?
I could fly like Krypto so it made things easier.
It took me roughly less than two hours to scout the entirety of the Anteverse.
I found other Precursors spread all over the planet and I ate them together with their mass-manufactured Kaijus. There were a lot of cloned lineups of Knifehead and Trespasser that could barely satisfy me. The humans were truly lucky the Precursors lacked the most efficient idea of terraforming and colonizing worlds. Of course, it was the way of the Swarm!
Anyway, my goal was to find the memories of how to reopen the Breach. Luckily, I found the information I was looking for from the memories of a high-ranking Precursor - a cardinal, to be exact.
These guys had some sort of clerical hierarchy going on amidst their ranks.
"Now, I am the only living soul left in this barren dimension."
The Precursors were on the brink of extinction due to dwindling levels of resources.
"But I wonder why some of their memories are unextractable." That issue had been bugging me ever since I ate my first Precursors.
I then began to fly toward the sun-looking sphere.
"So you are the one who has destroyed all of my children? Commendable!"
A voice suddenly sounded in my head via [Hive Mind Connection].
I stilled in my tracks.
