Teaser of Character Customization Features (incl thicc booty)
🕑 Added 2020-02-22 13:54:01 +0000 UTCHey peeps,
Aiming for a new build next week which will include some additional proportion sliders and performance improvements, thought I'd make a post about my plans for the Character Customization.
My ultimate goal is to allow the player to have a huge amount of control with their characters in creating the aesthetic they want. This is kind of a hard technical challenge because it means collisions have to be updated with shape changes, among other considerations, but I'm going to worry about that later and hope that there's some good solutions for it.
The clip is a demo of what will eventually be a very flexible body shape creator. I'm planning to add even more specific controls for various body parts, so players can totally fine tune their girls' body shapes. There won't be a lot of options for the Face shape currently, because I'm planning to overhaul the Facial rig with a system that will give very strong bone-based animation, so any work I do to the face now would be wasted. Players can however change eye positioning and size, these options will be there in the next build.
Since all of her animation will be end-target based, it should also be possible to change her height to a degree and have all her animations work. On a basic level this means that if players make a smol character, and there is a reaching animation, she will automatically reach further to compensate for her smaller arm-span.
I've built a pretty cool Height estimation system, which I've tested by cross referencing it with manually measuring her height, and it's quite accurate, with an error threshold of maybe an inch or so. This will recalculate her height whenever you change something that modifies her stature (no matter what pose she's in) by measuring all her vertical bone distances and adding them together. I talked briefly about this in one of the recent posts, but this info will be added automatically to her Bio when I build a proper save system for characters, I think it will be nice to have a character save / load system which has a snapshot of her, her name, eye color, height etc and any other info that might be nice to have in a Bio to make the girls feel more real, such a Birthdays etc.
One of the things I'm thinking of doing - which will be tricky since circumferences are really hard to measure on dynamic, non circular shapes - is a Bust / Waist / Hip stat which would update automatically as you change her various proportions. If I think of a good way of doing this I'm gonna totally add it, but I won't spent too much time fretting.
P.S, Please come into the Naughty Sandbox server! I'm online all the time, and build links are posted there a few days before they make it onto Patreon so I can iron out most of the postential gamebreaking stuff - https://discord.gg/QnV5yQb
Supporters who link their Discord will have their role assigned automatically, but if you don't want to do that, just let me know when you come in and I'll do it manually.
