A Short Revenge Plan... [Chapter 33]

Last night he was way too tired to check his Status Screen and after waking up today, he had to spend quite some time paying attention to Bella and Roberta. Bella was just like a child, an extremely dangerous child, who was always looking for his attention and Roberta was simply Roberta.
The purple-haired bespectacled woman wouldn’t have said anything on her own, but Daichi would never leave her aside. So, he decided to pay some attention to the woman while taking a bath. Kemono didn’t say anything since she was the one who had been pushing him to get more women, after all, her son deserved all the good women and Bella was a good woman. Additionally, she got to spend some time with her son yesterday.

Daichi frowned as soon as he saw his Job Requirements. He had only killed one Level 2 enemy and he was pretty sure that he had killed the Zombie with Saeko’s help while Bella was holding back the other Zombies from approaching them. ‘Did the Mana Archive count that as help?’ Daichi wondered inside his mind. Well if it did count then it was a good thing from his point of view.
‘The Level 2 Zombie gave me a couple of good things. So, killing a Level 2 Zombie would give you a Skill orb and a Weapon orb?’ Daichi wondered, but he already knew the answer. The problem was, that he knew that Level 2 Zombies or beasts aren’t going to be that common, but at least, the Level 1 enemies have started becoming pretty common.
Getting Ichika to become Bella’s slave wasn’t that hard, not that the girl had any other options. As soon as the girl stopped freaking out, she agreed to become Bella’s slave, albeit reluctantly. Bella knew a nifty Spell to turn humans into her slaves with a little bit of blood. Well, it wasn’t exactly a Spell, it was a Ritual to be exact. That is what Bella had said. Even though Ichika had become Bella’s slave, Daichi had promised her that she would be treated like everyone else. The slave seal on the back of her palm was just for insurance.
Bella had been pouting since then, she wanted to play more with Ichika, but Daichi had decided to put his foot down. Finally, Bella had stopped pouting and whining as she didn’t want to displease her Lord. Ichika was still not fit to join their excursion or even leave her bed for that matter, so after finishing the Ritual, Daichi had ordered her not to use her Skill without his permission through Bella. Though he wasn’t a cold-hearted person, so he had decided to add an exception clause, in case of self-defense.
After that, he left her room with Bella following behind him with a pout on her face. Now that he had dealt with the most demanding matter at hand, he wanted to have a chat with Maresato Chiba. She still hasn’t left her room, and Daichi wanted to talk with her about the body lying in the backyard of the house. He knew that the body wasn’t getting back up as a Zombie, but it will start smelling if kept like that for long. If Chiba wanted to bury the man, then she needed to do it today. Hygiene was already a problem.
Then there was also the matter of revenge, he wanted to know if the woman wanted revenge for her husband or not. If not he needed to deal with them on his own. Yesterday, he might have said that he would let them be if Chiba didn’t want to enact her revenge, but that was a plain white lie. He might have a pretty normal life before the awakening of Mana, but that didn’t mean he was a naïve fool.
Yesterday, when he said that he would let the Zombies feast on the people inside that house, a lot of the members of the group looked quite uncomfortable with his suggestion, and when he said that he would allow Chiba to have her revenge on the murderers of her husband, they looked similarly uneasy. At that time, he didn’t want to create a division within the group, so he had said that he would let them be.
After the incident of last night, he knew that he had already created a division. He wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Tsukomo and Aoba were already planning to get rid of him. Well, their time would come and Daichi would deal with them when the time comes. Returning to the previous topic, Daichi would deal with the murderers today. It didn’t matter if Chiba wanted to participate or not.
He knew that they might have killed the man to protect their family in some twisted way, but that didn’t mean that he would let them be. For Daichi, his family was the most important thing followed by his group, and the people living in that house was a threat to him, his family, and his group, so they needed to go one way or the other.
“What are you thinking about, milord?” All of a sudden Bella asked bringing Daichi out of his internal musings.
“I was planning someone’s demise…” Daichi muttered as he finally arrived in front of room where Chiba was staying with her daughter. Bella clapped her hands and silently cheered like a small child. Just like he said previously, Bella was like a child, an extremely dangerous child…
“You don’t need to say anything, let me do all the talking” Daichi said and Bella immediately closed her mouth. She raised her hand and did a zipping motion in front of her mouth and after that, she decided to stand to attention. Daichi couldn’t help but chuckle after watching her reaction. He slowly raised his hand and knocked on the door. Daichi and Bella heard some shuffling noises from inside the room before Chiba finally answered the room.
Chiba was the one who opened the door and from the looks of it, the woman didn’t seem to have slept that well last night. She had heavy dark circles under her eyes. “Daichi-san, how can I help you?” The woman asked Daichi with a fake smile plastered on her face.
“I know that this is a hard time for you and your daughter, but there was something very important I wanted to talk to you about” Daichi spoke in an apologetic tone. Chiba had no idea what Daichi wanted to talk about, but she decided to let him in. Alice was soundly asleep. Yesterday had been quite hard for her.
“Please, come in” Chiba invited Daichi and Bella inside the room. Daichi immediately noticed that the little girl was sleeping, that was a good thing since the topic was going to be quite dark.
“Do you want to hear what exactly happened to your husband?” Daichi asked without beating around the bush while Bella was already looking around the room, trying to look for any new contraption that might catch her eye. After hearing Daichi’s question Chiba’s face hardened. She simply nodded her head as she gritted her teeth in anger, after all, her husband wasn’t killed by Zombies, he was murdered.
“He had been asking for help by going house to house. Your husband seemed to have talked with the people in that house and when the door was opened, someone stabbed your husband from the inside. Though, I don’t know what they talked about…” Daichi trailed off and Chiba clenched her fists in anger as tears started to roll down her cheeks.
“Those bastards!!” Chiba gnashed her teeth in anger.
“There is a reason I am telling you this, I am planning to get rid of them, they are a risk to our group and they have already killed once, they could kill again. So, I wanted to know if you wanted to take revenge on them or not… They will be killed, with you or without you. Since this is not an easy decision to make, I am giving you some time to decide. You have till evening to make your decision” Daichi said and even though Chiba wanted to interrupt him, she held herself back and allowed him to speak.
“…I don’t need to think about anything. I will be joining you” Chiba said with a determined look on her face. “Those bastards murdered my husband and left my daughter to eaten by Zombies, I will be damned if I didn’t pay them back” Chiba gushed out with an enraged look on her face and Daichi could clearly understand her anger.
“Good. There is another thing I wanted to talk about, please don’t think that I am being disrespectful or anything, but when are you planning to bury your late husband?” Daichi asked politely, he didn’t want to come across as being rude or disrespectful. Chiba grimaced after hearing Daichi’s words, she could understand what he was trying to say.
“Possibly today, now I have an unenviable task of telling my daughter that her father is dead” Chiba muttered in a defeated tone and she finally wiped away her tears. “She probably knows already, but it will be still extremely hard for me” Chiba smiled morosely.
Daichi smiled grimly and nodded his head. “Then we will be doing it somewhen around this evening. Now, I will be excusing myself and please don’t tell anyone about the revenge plan… It is still a secret and there are a lot of members who would try to stop us if they found out…” Daichi said as he walked out of the door followed by Bella and Chiba nodded her head in understanding with a determined look on her face…
