Team Assignment (I) [Chapter 15]
🕑 Added 2023-10-03 15:07:53 +0000 UTCI stared at myself in the mirror and I didn’t know what to feel… I killed two people today and if I said I was alright then I would be lying… My vibrant blue eyes were not the same anymore as yesterday. Don’t get me wrong, they were still vibrant as always, but now there was a certain chillness in them.
I was a killer, a cold-blooded murderer, that much was an undeniable fact… I quickly washed my face before grabbing the headband lying on the bench. As a reward for becoming a cold-blooded murderer, I received this return. I wasn’t sure if it was a fair trade, but it was just the way of this world.
It was a simple band of black cloth with a metal plate attached to it and the insignia of Kumo was engraved on the metal plate… After taking a deep breath, I raised the hitai-ate and tied it around my forehead like a headband. A lot of Shinobis wore their hitai-ates in different places, but wearing it around the forehead was the most common practice.
After getting dressed in a fresh pair of clothes, I left the showers and started to make my way toward the mess hall. We were going to receive our code names today, and depending on that, we were going to be assigned to a team or go solo if we managed to become an elite…
I arrived at the mess hall only to realize that I was one of the first ones to arrive, so I simply decided to sit down and think about all the Jutsus I had managed to learn… It was kind of funny that I knew more Jutsus than the kids with Storm Release. While the students in special courses received special training and more attention from the instructions, it didn’t mean they were better students.
Their potential was obviously greater than ours, even if we ignore their Kekkei Genkais… They inherently possessed two types of Elemental Chakras…
Time trickled away and soon the rest of our batch also started to arrive… I could already notice that some of them had the same chillness in their eyes, while some looked mostly normal. While Jira seemed to be completely unbothered by the fact that she was now a cold-blooded murderer, I could see the chillness in Misa’s and Azui’s eyes.
“Morning guys, did you sleep well?” I asked, trying to probe a bit. Even though Misa and Azui have changed, I was sure that they weren’t as bothered as me. Having the memories of your past life could sometimes be a curse, instead of a blessing.
“I slept like a baby!” Jira cooed excitedly. Well, I could see that… Maybe, never considered killing to be a wrong thing, which was pretty normal considering the world we were in, but it was going to be an issue if she thought killing for Kumo was completely alright.
Azui and Misa glanced at each other before Misa finally started to speak. “I did have some troubles at first, but I eventually fell asleep” Misa answered with a shrug and Azui nodded his head in agreement from the side.
I pursed my lips in displeasure… No, I shouldn’t feel like that. They are my friends…
After a few minutes more, M finally arrived with his assistant following him. “Congratulations, all of you have managed to graduate from the Training Facility and now all of you are Genins of Kumo, but there is something else that needs to be taken care of before you join the active roster” M explained indifferently, but there was a hint of a smile on his face.
Fuck me sideways… I thought he didn’t even know how to smile…
After that, he started to call the kids from the special courses and assign them their code names… Unsurprisingly, all of the vacant elite spots were given to them, but there weren’t many vacant spots for the elites to begin with.
For example, Raikage’s brother was going to become the next Raikage, so he was going to be the next A and their youngest brother, who was also the Kinchuriki of the 8 tails, was going to become the next B. “Looks like someone is really butt hurt” Jira said in a sing-song voice as she glanced toward Zumo. He drifted away from our group because we were considered riff-raff, so I could understand why she hated him.
Only 2 kids from the special courses outright received elite code names (coincidently, both of them were from important clans) from M while 4 more of them were going to be trained by the current holders of the code names and eventually those code names would be passed on to them.
“Raijin” M called out my name when he was finally done with the names of the kids from the special courses, and I stood up. “You will be keeping your name considering you Lightning Affinity” M added with a shrug and I slowly sat down, looking slightly dumbfounded. To be honest, I loved my name, and I was completely happy with the decision.
“Jira” M called out, and the said girl shot up from her seat. “From now on, you will be known as Namaikina” M finished and Jira plopped down in her seat with a confused look on her face.
“It means brash, suits you well, if you ask me” I revealed with a grin only to receive a heated glare in return. If M wasn’t here, she would have pounced on me… probably. It seems she didn’t appreciate my help…
“Misa” After a few more names, M finally called out. “From now on, you will be known as Bakana” M finished and Misa, who was smiling like a loon, lost her smile at the revelation.
“Bakana?” Misa, now known as Bakana, asked herself in a horrified tone. I am not going to say this out loud, but I kind of agree with M, she does seem to be kind of silly.
“Azui” M called out after a few more names. “Mukchina” M moved on after saying that. Azui, or now known as Mukuchina, simply nodded his head in acknowledgement before taking his seat… Soon M was done and decided to leave, but not before telling us (the ones with the non-elite code names) to visit the mission hall today to get assigned to our teams.
They could have done it here, I sighed in disappointment. Though, at least I hope I am in a team with someone I know…

Well, he killed someone in cold blood. The man couldn't have done anything to him. He was not an enemy, he didn't even have a weapon, and they were not in a fight. That is why he considers himself to be a murderer

Right now rajin isn’t a murderer is he? I thought a murder was someone that planned the kill, did feel remorse he isn’t like that wouldn’t killer fit better? A bit late but thanks for the chapter
