Cerene's Blender Rig (Video)
🕑 Added 2021-09-13 13:00:25 +0000 UTCHere's a little video preview of Cerene's new Blender rig (attachment can be downloaded below). No actual animation, as this is just a demonstration from our production coordinator, but you can get a peek at how well inverse kinematics (IK) works in Blender. We mentioned IK before as one of the advantages we'd have if we switched to Blender. It had always been a bit finnicky for us in Maya, but in Blender it just works.
Animators often use IK when they want to build an animation around the movement of the hands or feet. Here you can see that when we manipulate the hand, the shoulder and elbow joint follow within a range the rigger has setup. The alternate to this is forward kinematics, wherein you'd start by animating the shoulder and upper arm, then the forearm, then finally the hand. Sex animation uses a combinations of these types of animations, so having functional IK for our future animations will save us time. A lot of the movements we create focus on hip movement and secondary motion in particular, so with this Blender rig you can see moving the hip affects all surrounding body parts naturally. In Maya it would be disconnected and require counter animation.

So first, definitely appreciate the increase in posts and those with content. Second, idk who needs to hear this but I’m ok with whoever is making the animations as long as we are getting them. Like I’m not expecting Jim Henson to make and animate every muppet in his movies, idk why that’s different here. Also appreciate the behind the scenes stuff too.

So I remember year(s) ago you posted the "pussy controls" video. At the time it seemed like a big step forward and a non-trivial undertaking to get dynamically resizing pussy model working. Seems like you accomplished the same thing here in a shorter period. Was it just as hard to do in blender or do the IK effects work to make that easier as well? Not going to even get into how fun it would be to have an animation where someone like G Cerene uses pompoir (tightening/contracting pussy muscles) to milk another DG character dry. Actually I think Tara would be a pretty awesome fit for that. She seems like she'd be pretty into yoga and little athletic tricks like that. I don't think that's ever been done before since it''d be hard to animate, but between this tech and some good voice work/script to convey the feeling, it'd make for a pretty awesome little clip.

@IBT It's simply my opinion, you're free to disagree with it. @TheGreatCornholio I think it's common knowledge that Miro doesn't work on most of these - hence why "Miro" is in quotations - but there's still a signature style you can identify across the works. Once again, you're free to disagree, it's a free world after all.

IK looks helpfull for sure and you should check Cascadeur for physics-based character animation.
Not a fan, it looks too far from the usual "Miro" style and while it looks good, it still has that "clearly Blender" look to it which makes it look less premium compared to the standard animations we've been getting.

Remind: Don't forget about Dick rigging. Curving when erection making it soft to flaccid then full-erected. (Or even expand to 20 inches) And also for the tongue, you know, for licking like Tristan do in BLC.
