Let me just clarify: Jiraya and the rest of the Sannian fought in the 2nd great ninja war not the 3rd the anime made a mistake and Kishimoto tried to clear it up The 3rd great ninja war is fought with Minato Kakashi Obito and Rin. There is actually a video on YouTube that explains the great ninja wars in some detail they’re only 10 mins segments but are very interesting.
