The Crematorium, as it is most often known outside the plane, offers little in the way of truly solid ground; the lava rain occasionally leaves a stable crust of crumbling pumice upon the seas of liquid flame, and jagged isles of basalt and obsidian sometimes bubble up from the molten depths dot the horizon, but most of what passes for ground are slabs of slow-drifting flamestone; petrified fire pounded and compressed to the consistency of hot coals by the intense pressure of the plane's endless firestorms.
Erupting currents of bubbling magma split the fireseas, occasionally lighting the ashen sky in a flash of blinding blue when regions grow so hot they vaporize, ascending in an instant as a cascading geyser of plasma that ignites the smoke and ash of the sky itself.
On the shores of this scorching sea rises the gleaming City of Brass, perhaps the grandest hub of planar exchange, set in a rare oasis of relative safety from the unrelenting hostility of the elements, though those reliant on its shelter are ripe for exploitation by its efreet masters.
