On making Isometric Play more accessible
🕑 Added 2024-02-02 17:07:58 +0000 UTCI have a new plan. Ive seen the votes, and read the comments. This with some of the feedback Ive got from exit surveys paint a relatively clear picture of the difficulties players have on playing isometric VTT or enjoying what I make monthly.
Ive taken into account the costs of each VTT service for full isometric and Basic functionality (No iso tools or automation, gridless, etc) And the costs of assets plus maps and tokens for minimal play.
From now on, I will strive, to make playing on Isometric cheaper for a basic setting. I will offer 3Dollar (Tier 2) Thematic packs with maps, some free assets and all the needed tokens for a one shot or short campaign.
The basic full experience will be available as normal at 5 dollars (Tier 2) With all assets and Basic Maps. This plus the average cost of a VTT setting end up being around 3-10USD monthly for a Basic experience, similar to regular tabletop (No occlusion, or foreground elements)
On the difficulties of actual preparing game sessions on VTT Isometric, Im preparing to stream the process weekly, from Monday to Friday. From drawing and painting tips, to map building, tricks of PSD, converting regular maps into Isometric, etc. I have everything ready, and will start on twitch Monday next week. I will clip the specific parts where I teach how to play.
On the issue of not having anyone to play with. I will start a server (in the near future) where anyone of the Patreon can join to play, and I will be making the maps and giving the tokens or variants for their one shots or short campaigns. So we can build an environment where anyone can play
I will retire the Tier 1 ¨2D compendium¨, and it will be available only on Tier 2 (Giving away all my 2D Tokens for 1dollar is way to low, while other sources are charging up to 30dollars for a pack of regular tokens. For the new people on my Tier 1, this is the last week of availability for the 2D compendium. For the new tokens, join the Discord where I upload more weekly.
**Tiers 4-6 will continue as they are now.

Very cool news! I probably won't be swapping to isometric anytime soon personally as I like the simplicity of a topdown map with Pog Tokens in play, but I always am down for more accessibility of things.
