We look at metars and TAFs the night before flying. then again in the morning we get a briefing taking note of anything out of normal(ADM). After all that and preflighting we tune into the ATIS/AWOS to listen to the current metar. All of these moments are times to reflect on weather conditions and your personal minimums. It can be hard to tell when it’s time to push them and when it’s time to be cautious. I tend to air on the side of caution so sometimes encouragement from an instructor goes a long way. Or inviting a safety pilot to help with the workload if the conditions are pushing your minimums.
