So I did end up visiting the ER again because of some symptoms that required urgent testing but thankfully it was not an emergency. I’m seeing my surgeon again in a week, and the next step will be to do some sort of endoscopy (fancy word for putting a camera in my butt… queue joke about being an exhibitionist).
I found out that the level of symptoms I’m having at this point in my recovery is not normal, which is disheartening but also very comforting because it validates the fact that I’m struggling so much. I found out that I have to wait six months after surgery before they can consider the surgery “failed” at which point we would talk about reversing the reversal and having a permanent ostomy… But I have to give it the full six months to avoid major complications (it’s technically only been two months since the official “takedown”, which was the second surgery at the beginning of may)
I’m doing my best to “hang in there”, and there has been some progress albeit slower than I had ever hoped or anticipated. I’m down to 75mg of oxycodone per day (from about 250) and I even managed to go for a walk on a local forest trail yesterday for about 30 minutes which is HUGE!
Ladybird is visiting again next week, I miss her to bits and I know that her company will surely lift my spirits. Thanks for reading if you got this far - as always, any financial support is greatly appreciated but never expected. ♥️
