People prepare for New Year's Eve as they prepare for Christmas. And at Christmas (January 7), people go to visit their parents and grandparents. For guys and girls, this is a time for parties and round-the-clock fun lasting a week or more ๐ We give gifts for the New Year, we cook a holiday dinner, we stay up all night, the next day we continue the fun, and the day after that too ๐ Well, for Christmas, it's seeing cousins and grandparents. Sometimes people sing Christmas songs, but this is more related to old customs (I also did this once ๐ and if I were in Ukraine now, I would do the same ๐) This year, Ukraine celebrated Christmas on December 25th.
