Plans for my 2019 work

Hi dear Patrons, and again thanks from the bottom of my heart for your continued support! As you many know, Godot 3.1 is about to come out, focusing mostly on usability. We had to postpone most 3D work and features due to the problems we've been having with OpenGL/OpenGL ES drivers since Godot 3.0 came out.As most products and game engines are meant for Windows, they use DirectX as their principal back-end, so OpenGL is not as maintained or cared for by hardware vendors. Added to this, OpenGL...

Hi everyone, here's Rémi!My previous report on progress made in the master branch between Nov 1 and Dec 7 was well received, so here's another update on what happened in the last two weeks (which should match what will be available in the upcoming Godot 3.1 alpha 4 build). Thanks to all of you for your support that enables this work, and a warm welcome to our new patrons! Dev progress since 3.1 alpha 2

Hi everyone! It's Rémi behind the keyboard again. In my previous post covering our Patreon journey so far, I mentioned that I'd like to do (short) posts more regularly to give you some insights into Godot's day-to-day development. So here's the first one!It will be a bit longer than what I plan for future posts, as I want to cover what happened since 3.1 alpha 2, so all of November and the first week of December. Patreon and goals updated: Help us hire Pedro Estébanez!

After a long discussion on how we can best use donations, the Patreon page and its goals have been updated.I hope you help us reach the next goal, so we can hire Pedro J. Estébanez full-time. Pedro is a veteran generalist who can work on any area of the engine, so he can help fix bugs or improve usability on the many many areas which are not under the responsibility of specific persons (and often have to rely on occasional contributors). This will help us improve the general quality, stability ...

Our Patreon journey so far in review

Hello dear Patrons,It's Rémi (Akien) writing to you for once -- it's been a while! Today's my birthday so I figured it would be the right occasion to spend some time off GitHub PRs and Issues and write to you instead :)We haven't been very talkative on Patreon lately, focusing all our attention on releasing 3.1 beta.I plan to address that and write short updates on what's cooking up on GitHub in the future, but in the meantime make sure to follow Godot's blog (which also...

September 2018 voting for is up!

Feel free to vote on the proposed tutorials/roadmap priorities for September 2018!https://goo.gl/forms/SgjzHjx8wOrV29oj1I noted for many months now that many roadmap proposals are already existing features. This may be a problem with our documentation (or just lazy people, I don't know :P). Maybe it could be worth adding here those which were redundant proposals and explain why and maybe a link to a tutorial? Or maybe they should be added as tutorial requests in the vote?

August 2018 Voting form is up!

Here is the voting form for August 2018. Submit your votes before August 15! Plenty of nice options to choose from.As the quality of Godot documentation keeps improving, I have noticed a shift from requests of documenting existing engine features, to request of how to create game specific content. (As in, how to create an RPG, a stealth game, etc).I wonder how we could better organize our documentation to be able to better serve this purpose, how we could put some guidelines for contributors to ...
