Squid Game: How To TRULY Win | READUS 101
It’s clear that Netflix’s Squid Game, a Korean drama by Hwang Dong-hyuk, can easily be seen as an allegory for capitalism. But considering the worldwide reaction to Squid Game, the reviews for Squid Game, and the ending to Squid Game, all of the media Squid Game was inspired by and compared to -- including Casino Royale, Parasite and Rat Race -- can help show us exactly what it will take to win the game it’s warning us about.
A Black Nerd Reacts to Power Rangers Theme Songs (VIDEO SCRIPT)
I want it on record, that I’m not...CONSCIOUSLY trying to say that any of the shows I’m mentioning in this video are trash. A Black Nerd Reacts to Power Rangers Theme Songs | READUS 101
As a Blerd who’s a fan of Power Rangers, one of the most important things regarding the shows after the Zordon era were the Power Rangers theme songs. Their uniqueness can either make or break the interest in the entire show. So I decide to give my critique of multiple Power Rangers theme songs -- including Power Rangers Dino Thunder, Power Rangers SPD, Power Rangers Mystic Force and Power Rangers Ninja Storm -- and talk about my favorite theme songs and ones that didn’t do it for me.

Shinji Ikari's Biggest Mistake! (Rebuild of Evangelion) | READUS 101
Shinji Ikari - the protagonist of Neon Genesis Evangelion and Rebuild of Evangelion - has been shipped with multiple characters in the franchise; Kaworu Nagisa, Asuka Soryu and most recently Mari Makinami. However, with the Evangelion series concluding with the fourth Rebuild movie “Thrice Upon A Time,” Shinji choosing to be with Mari considering everything he’s gone through in Evangelion 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 beforehand isn’t just Shinji being Shinji. So here’s my attempt to give an analys...

Is This the BEST Doctor Strange in the MCU? (Marvel Studios' What If...?) | READUS 101
The Disney Plus series “What If...?” episode 4 asked the question “What if Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?” and showed us Doctor Strange vs. Doctor Strange by introducing to us Doctor Strange Supreme. However, as a reaction to What If episode 4, we’ve also seen one of the most accurate depictions of the Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU. Even more accurate than his live-action 2016 movie...
Let Phastos Be GAY! (VIDEO SCRIPT)
Dear Marvel Studios,Hi there. My name is La'Ron Readus, and I'm a black queer fan of...71 and a half percent of your available slate of work upon the release of this video. Rest in Peace, Stan LeeIn this movie, as part of your promise to display more positive queer repr...
Let Phastos Be GAY! (Marvel Studios' Eternals) | READUS 101
With the final trailer of Marvel Studios’ Eternals causing reaction upon its release, anticipation for the November 2021 release is higher than ever! However, with the reveal of him being gay, I’m concerned about how Marvel Studios is going to depict Brian Tyree Henry’s Eternals character Phastos and the relationship with his husband. So I formed this short yet sweet little video in hopes Marvel Studios sees it, in order to demand that Phastos should be allowed to be seen as gay just as mu...

What Makes Vesemir the BEST WITCHER? (VIDEO SCRIPT)
Be honest; you were just as disappointed as I was when a “Toss A Coin To Your Witcher” instrumental didn’t play during the title card._________Trust me, Readers; I was just as psyched to hear that we were getting a Witcher anime movie between seasons of the live-action Netflix show as you were back when it was announced. Then when the trailer for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf was released, I initially got hype for it just from the animation alone. Not gonna lie, though; I wasn’t expec...

Shuma Gorath WANTS IN on the MCU's Multiverse Saga! (VIDEO SCRIPT)
I’ll be honest with you, Readers. I wasn’t expecting to make another Marvel Theory video when Marvel Studios’ What If dropped on Disney PlusIf anything, I was gonna use this video to explain that this series isn’t the off-shoot anthology show we thought it was gonna be, but actually a connective canonical narrative that tells some important stories from the branching timelines created with the death of He Who Remains that may play a factor later on in the Multiverse Saga./And we know thi...

How Gwendolyn Handled Eda's Curse MATTERS! (VIDEO SCRIPT)
Readers, as you can imagine, I don’t have cable. So I wasn’t able to watch the first half of The Owl House season 2 like everyone else was able to as it aired. But what I DO have is a year’s worth of Disney Plus. /And I found out that the first five episodes of season 2 were made available to stream on Wednesday July 21st, 2021./Now if you’ve seen my video on Amity Blight’s character development in Season 1, then you already know that I love this show and how it handles the development ...
How Gwendolyn Handled Eda's Curse MATTERS! (The Owl House Season 2) | READUS 101
With the release of the first five episodes of The Owl House Season 2 on Disney Plus after premiering on Disney Channel, I found episode 4 “Keeping Up A-Fear-Ances” to be the most compelling. And that’s because the plight of Gwendolyn Hawthorne, Eda Hawthorne’s mother, unfortunately mirrors what certain parents in real life are currently going through. Especially when it tackles the subject of parental neglect...
DC Comics' Corto Maltese EXPLAINED! (VIDEO SCRIPT)
Readers, I apologize if this video isn’t as analytical as my other ones.Usually when a new movie comes out that I show interest in, I have a thought about it that spirals into analogy, allegory, and aptitude.Either that, or my theory brain decides to start working if I’m watching a movie or a television show that’s part of a larger franchise that I follow.James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, because of its loose affiliation with the DCEU and me knowing how character driven his work can be fro...

The TRUTH About The Firm! (VIDEO SCRIPT)
I’m gonna be honest with you, Readers. When you get Gunpowder Milkshake started, the first 30 or so minutes aren’t anything special.Which says a lot, because the main factors that attracted me to the movie was seeing Karen Gillan in a lead role, and how the film was gonna handle the subgenre of badass female assassins that was made popular by Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill./Throw in Angela Basset and Michelle Yeoh as supporting characters, and you can see how I was hooked on the main cast a...

The Conquistadors Weren't The ONLY Villains! (Disney's Jungle Cruise) | READUS 101
With the release of Disney’s Jungle Cruise, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Frank plays a pivotal role in an adventure involving Conquistadors in the jungles of Brazil. However, that isn’t the only villain present in the Jungle Cruise movie based on the DisneyLand ride. One of them has proven to be just as dangerous as a Conquistador, with just as dangerous a weapon at its disposal: Colonialism.

LeBron James & Bugs Bunny Should've Been FRENEMIES! (Space Jam: A New Legacy) | READUS 101
When LeBron James meets Bugs Bunny in Space Jam: A New Legacy, the sequel to the animated movie starring Michael Jordan, tensions should’ve been high between them regarding how they got Lola Bunny and the other Looney Tunes back together to play ball against Don Cheadle’s Al G. Rhythm. What sucks is that the movie had the perfect way of setting up how the two could become frenemies!

Cars: A Proper Movie Trilogy (Feat. Scott Niswander of NerdSync) | READUS 101
Disney Pixar’s Cars trilogy is currently the only bonafide trilogy by Pixar Animation ever since the release of Toy Story 4. However, while the tales of Cars, Cars 2 and Cars 3 explore the dynamic of Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, and Doc Hudson -- aka The Hudson Hornet -- there’s still something missing that Scott Niswander of @NerdSync and I want to try and adjust in order to make it a Proper Movie Trilogy!
