General Report - The Astronaut & The TopGun Fighter Pilot
Hello Patrons of the arts & science. MUSIC UPDATEThe last couple weeks have been very productive initiated by a deep creative zone writing and recording. 4 songs are close to completion with another 5 half finished and another 5 chomping at the bit to get started. I'm having a blast with the accordion that Todd our drummer/ bassist let me borrow and am dusting off the old rusty trumpet. The most progress however has been on my upright bass performance.BIG INTERVIEW TOMORROW...(Not Live)w/ fo...
Tornado Warned Supercell Hopscotch - Nov 4, 2022
Sneak Peek on how to best wear your anti-burrito spray during 15% hatched tornado risks.
Nov 4 Tornadoes ???
There's a good tornado threat tomorrow in the ArkLaTex (Arkansas - Louisiana - Texas vicinity). My current target is starting near i20 east of Dallas perhaps around Canton. Expecting a messy, rainy atmosphere in extremely difficult chasing terrain (TREES!!! AHHH!!!). This is my turf and I've fared well here in the past, however...The cheat sheet above has been forecasting storms moving 45-50 mph. The hodograph (circle chart top right)has some white text by a blue line that says "228/...
Chasing This Week? + In the Movies, Podcasts, TV, Etc.
Greetings Patrons,Chiming in to update you on the avalanche of progress you're supporting here. The continuing lack of photogenic storms in my stomping grounds has resulted in a deep rhythm of creativity and productivity, however this could be disturbed this week... THURSDAYThe Lee cyclogenesis warrants watching though current parameters appear anemic (at a glance). FRIDAYA line of storms across the country is likely. Though it currently appears squally, there is still hope for something les...
So You're Saying There's a Chance?
Low tornado probabilities currently appear Sunday and Monday…SUNDAY late afternoon and evening, temperatures may come close to 90F in Southern Nebraska. A sharp dryline should develop with dews in the upper 50s.* High temperatures and low dew points are not favorable for tornadoes. We call this the TD spread (T - Temps, D - Dew points, Spread - difference) This is a good indication for high based storms.*** Bases are the bottoms of storms. When they're high, you can often see much more of ...
September Photo Download
Hello Patrons,Below in the attachments is a photo download. This was a spectacular August evening in southeast Arizona this last monsoon.(Photo Expired)SPAMMER ALERT - HEADS UP!!!Some major league @$$hole is impersonating me in the comment section of YouTube and luring people to message him / her (but I'd bet a bunch it's a him). This is a reminder to ALWAYS be skeptical of anyone or "anything" asking you to join another service, or log into the service or click / what not. Scamm...
New Video tonight or tomorrow ?
Lots of comedy in this next one and perhaps some tears of joy for the most hardcore animal lovers. My hopes for this cut is that it awakens two or three of the compassion impaired. Again, It’s very unlikely I could produce this content without your patronage. MORE RAMBLING THOUGHTS - if you’re bored… NATURE & TRAVEL VIDEOS generally don’t get as much traffic on this channel as twin tornadoes divided by positive lightning, but the different topic can recruit outsiders into our freaky vort...

CENTRAL PLAINS STORMS + RAWK & ROWLL
Those starved for storms will have a few shots at some multicells and perhaps supercells before things get squally the next few days. Above is Tonight's NAM NEST forecast for 6PM CDT. Below is Friday evening...and Below is Saturday's NAM NEST run...NEXT WEEK WE TRACK BASS & DRUMSI won't be chasing this round as I'm cram-composing and prepping for the recording studio next week. It's been 6 years I think since I released my last record. Maybe we can finish a new one before Tor...
Back from Tahiti / Moorea OMG
Damnit, I'm in love with whales. Everyday we observed humpback whales from the shore. On one extremely special occasion I was able to fly the drone over a loving mother and playful calf while they rested for roughly 20 minutes before diving. The footage is some of my best. Moorea is a small island 30 miles or so from Tahiti. I've been corrected, It's not Tahiti... That's where we mostly stayed.CAN YOU HEAR WHALES? In all the nature documentaries you hear their songs as well as th...
It’s not looking good for thunderstorms here in Tahiti, but we will survive.
Summer’s almost gone unless you live in the southwest US. Hope you guys there can weather out the heat dome. Yesterday we observed humpback whales from our hillside air B&B and today we are roughing it in one of these bungalows. On the flight over it was fascinating crossing the ITCZ (InterTropical Convergence Zone). There were weak pulse storms the pilot weaved through in the daylight. Damsels, Angels, batfish, skinks and an eagle ray have been the other highlights. I just wanted to say thank...
New Video Progress & Free Song
Hello Patrons,I'm in hour 57 of this new mess I'm working on. 40 windshield wipers removed in photoshop frame by frame, A million little decisions completed and only 250 big ones to go. Scoring the music will likely take a day and fine tuning another. Hoping to publish this bad boy Saturday. In the attachments below is the intro song I'm using. I've used this theme several times in the past, but each time I re-record it to fit the timing of the new sequence. Since I'm playing ...
Live Show Broadcast Friday Night - New Video Soon
Howdy Gang!I think I can have the next video uploaded by next Thursday or Friday. In the grab above I'm discussing a blunder that almost cost me my life. In the craziness of approaching a large rain wrapped tornado in a view impairing ridge, my tablet road maps got skewed to the right. Can you see how this could be a slight problem? FRIDAY NIGHT 9:30 CDT I'll be performing solo at the Mucky Duck Pub in Houston. They will broadcast live for the world to see and hear. Hopefully all that si...
Monsoon 2022 Sneak Peek Pics
This year in the desert my objective was to capture more real time, lightning storm video rather than stills and time lapses. It was a very active Monsoon while I was there with surreal colors, but I feel I didn't capitalize the best I could have. I certainly captured some wonderful moments, however I'm haunted by the events I just missed... Either too far away or pointed the wrong way. I partially blame the Covid. Despite having very minor symptoms, I felt drained and a lack of drive to...
Aug 4 - Monsoon / Covid Update
Hey gang,I continue to have slight covid symptoms reminiscent of a wine mixed with tequila Southern Backtones gig hang over. The most inconvenient symptom is a lack of enthusiasm to work hard evident in the photo above :D. The last 2 nights I've been pent up in a Holiday Inn watching HBO left overs. It's actually not bad. Covid is an excellent excuse to do nothing. The hotel staff has been notified and very accommodating to my sickness / laziness. Today I'm feeling slightly better. L...
Monsoon Aug 2 Target - Under the Weather
After flying home from Phoenix yesterday Nat tested positive for Covid. She had minor symptoms and tested negative thrice, but 4th time's a'Larm. :D Yesterday I was slightly feverish and quarantined in a hotel all day but feeling 95% today... Armed with 3 jabs, my leucocytes are likely kicking some serious Covid butt.Today I'll be arriving late on the scene for the storms in SE Arizona. The WindBreaker is packed with tuna, jerky, GORP (Good Ol Raisons & Peanuts) ramen, cereal ... the...
July 31 Target - South AZ
Yesterday the HRRR guidance was spot on. We scored lots of daytime bolts from a slow moving / back building cell...TODAY: Nat and I will likely head back to the Tohono O'Odham Nation stomping grounds west of Tucson. Good luck Shutter Bugs.
MONSOONS!!! July 30 Target
The North American Monsoon provides opportunities to capture highly branched lightning with beautiful colors and incredibly dreamy landscapes. Forecasting can be frustrating and you never really know what's around the next mountain, but the HRRR model can help point you in A direction. My morning forecasts are often abandoned by afternoon. Today I'm thinking of starting around Tucson and following storms west for the sunset. Good luck bolt lovers!
Photo of the Every Other Month
I don't do a lot of self portraits, however this one has a moral. Attempting to milk every lightning drop from this surging storm in Montana, I had two cameras on tripods snapping away and a drone up. 45 seconds prior to the severe outflow winds I landed the drone, packed up the first camera and tripod and almost made it to the second camera before it smashed into the dirt. Luckily, there was no damage to the camera or lens (I'm aware of).Let's call this one "A Bird In the Hand.....
Miami behind the scenes - Courtesy of Jungle Jay.
There were no decent storms in Florida so we got to goof off instead.Great to see fellow Patrons Celton & Jungle Jay and treat them to $6 cans of water at the Yeti Film Fest. Be sure and follow the link to Youtube.
Free Song Download - Drive Under the Moon
We just got back from the Florida Keys, and the Yeti Film Festival in Florida. Highlights were meeting up with fellow Patrons Celton and Jungle Jay, Manatees, Cuban food and frozen chocolate covered Key lime pie on a stick. The "Yeti Presents" film "Ballad of Pecos Hank" will eventually be on their YouTube page now that their festival is wrapping up. Also, see if you can spot Mike Olbinski's and my footage in the amazing new Disney film series "America the Beautiful."N...

New Tornado Video This Week
Hello Gang,I'm popping in to let you know I'll likely be uploading a new video sometime in the next 72 hours. Fifteen minutes of neato storms and interesting information dove-tailed with horror... YouTube will almost certainly limit monetization on this one. I generally have multiple cameras running during these events and present you with the obvious choice cuts, however to limit overplay of my greatest hits I'm using the secondary camera shots and outtakes as much as possible In th...
June 15 Futile Chase Target - IA / MN / WI
Today I’m expecting a bunch of rain to just race by me in Wisconsin. (Black oval is my current target) With this sleeper tornado season in its last inning, I might as well wait for the final out in the off off off chance Morher Nature delivers a photogenic grand slam. Let’s hope she swings and misses. Heads up everyone in the vicinity. Good luck hard core chasers.
June 13 Chase Target WY/SD
I’ll be hitting the low percentage tornado target again today near Rapid City South Dakota. Long term forecast after that not looking promising, so I might take a break after. Several chasers I’ve been in contact with have tested positive for Covid. Though it’s been 3-4 days since, I’m symptomless but taking extra precautions to not herd with people just in case I have it. If you see me on the side of the road shooting a storm, please don’t approach. You should be watching the rare sto...
June 12 Chase Target - MT-WY-SD again
I'm currently rolling with the SPC's 5% outlook. Will dive deeper into the forecast at a Restuarant after I get kicked out of this repulsive Motel6 in Rapid City. Excited for another round of pretty storms over dreamy scenery. Below are a couple stills from yesterday's super-squall-cell.Good luck inflation cha$er$.
June 11 Chase Target
Heads or Tails guys?Tails is the higher percentage tornado play with potential for discrete southeast moving supercells among mixed modes. Noting I've never seen a significant tornado producing supercell moving southeast at over 20 knots. (Jarrel TX F5 was zippering southwest and I've yet to see anything else like that since.)Tails would also require a 7 hour commute from the previous day and an 11 hour commute to tomorrows target.Heads has a trace chance of a tornado near SE Montana, bu...
June 9 Chase Target
Today Skip & I are in agreement for a northwest Kansas target. We’ll be keeping an eye on SW Nebraska as well, dialing in commitment with future observations. Yesterday’s 9 day GFS forecast was looking grim for tornado loving freaks. Models have not been in agreement so perhaps a flop is in the cards. Usually you have to say out loud 3 times, “the season is over” before Mother Nature embarrasses you with the tornado of the year. I have not spoken the words yet, but Shaw did once. Good l...
June 7 chase targets
Place your bets… A, B, C, or None of the Above? My choice is hedging B & C until the last minute favoring C for a pretty structure light show. A is a good bet for structure with a higher tornado percentage, but could be squall, outflow dominant & surging fast. The red Circle / none of the above is Anton & Skip’s Target. It’s a high chance of a cap bust, however if a storm initiates here, chances of a chaseable fully condensed tornado is higher. This is more favorable for our scientific mi...
