The sketch for this page lay around for a few weeks, made during an earlier brainstorming session for panel layouts. Having a layout ready to go was supposed to be a cheat code for hitting the ground running, and I had hoped to make the page quickly and without fuss. In the end, the page took one extra day than usual to complete. My hubris!

The process for this page was a strange one, as I was beta testing a new tablet device (I cannot go into specifics about it). While I was trying to sketch the comic I was also getting used to a new, temporary workflow and coming to grips with the quirks and bugs of a modern, albeit not-quite-finished drawing tool. This assignment was a temporary one, and I was able to return to my tried and true Cintiq 22HD for the tail end of this page.

It was a little tricky to figure out exactly how wide this spread needed to be to accommodate its eventual print form, with extra space for the gutters accounted for. It was not enough to simply double the width of a normal page-- in actuality, this is slightly wider than two pages side by side. The spine will eventually be right around the right edge of Joe's "RRRGH!" bubble.

Going Away Again!
The calendar says that it's time for another vacation! I'm going camping with my parents (first time since Covid), and I'll be away for 4 nights starting tomorrow.It kills me to take two vacations back to back like this, but I'll be back drawing content before you know it, and in the meantime thank you so much for your patience!
