Bee Dee Gee's Hee Bee Bee Gees Bloopers
the disco vampire rides again. and also a wolfman.WATCH THE BLOOPERS HEREPassword: dexterthedogThis is by far my favorite project of the year, mostly because it means I get to ask Jonah Scott to help me make silly Halloween covers, and then Jonah sends me the hottest track in the goshdang world. He turns these things around in like 4 days—it's incredible. And then I get to goof around in silly costumes. Which you know I love to do.This year, we only got to make two songs, as I started a lit...
finishing an edit! | Oct. Process Livestream
my goodness we are so close to finishing these videosLIVESTREAM HERE TOMORROWAT 2PM PTI think this might be the first time I could potentially finish a video edit on a stream. I don't want to get my hopes up, because there will most likely be a couple rounds of re-exporting and all that, but I think we'll get pretty darn close to finishing the main video for the new Halloween cover songs! If you'd like to be surprised about the videos on Friday, don't watch this stream, 'cause...
SEPTEMBER PROGRESS REPORT
HELLO EVERYONE, what a long week/month/multiple months it has been.WHAT HAS HAPPENED?The health insurance video is officially done and out in the world and—although I was not expecting it—it is doing better than any other video I've made this year. Maybe in multiple years. Who knew so many people were passionate about Health Insurance Terminology? For real though, I'm extremely grateful that people seem to be connecting with it, and for all of you who have watched and shared it. I'...
Health Insurance Sound Effects!
I'm sorry to say I do not have any music for you with this video—I had originally intended to write my own corporate stock music, but it became increasingly clear that it would have forced me to publish this video next year, so instead, Louie Zong made the music for it! You can find it all on his bandcamp page.Instead, I have a ton of sound effects that might be a little niche, but maybe you can find a way to use them in your work? Normally I list the things that I give you permission to u...

July Progress Report!
Welcome to the first time I have posted a progress report solidly before the last few days of the month! It is because I have bitten off more than I can chew!JULY VIDEO: IN PROGRESS!So I have been working on this video diligently since last month, but the vast majority of that work has been on the script. Currently, the script is ~4000 words long. To give you a little context for that word count, most of my Unraveled episodes floated around the 2500 word range. I tend to talk pretty quickly and ...

JUNE PROGRESS REPORT

research & scripting | June Process Stream
Hello! We're gonna do a VERY WEIRD process stream tomorrow. I have no idea if it'll work! If it doesn't, we'll just swap over to making music, which is always a safe bet.STREAM WILL BE LIVE TOMORROW HEREWEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 2PM PTI have a new video in the works for July, and it's pretty different from the ones I've been making recently, namely because it involves research, a concept I haven't thought about in a very long time. the woes of a parking attendant | Behind the Scenes
hahaha surprise, it's a new tiny video that took about 3 hours from conception to publish!not surprisingly, I don't have much in the way of BTS footage, but I do have the four takes it took to get this thing filmed, most of which I had to not use because Karen kept laughing behind the camera:YOU CAN SEE THOSE TAKES HEREpassword: parkingwoesQuite literally, this video began because we drove past this "No Trucks Allowed" sign in front of a large parking lot that only contained truc...

RGSS Behind the Scenes
It's a new, nonsensical video! I had originally planned to release it after Hats, but then life got in the way, so I'm finally releasing it now! There is no deeper meaning to it, though you can see how it was formed in the behind-the-scenes video below!WATCH THE BEHIND THE SCENES HEREpw: latenightsnackAnd at the top of this post, you can enjoy high quality images of each of Karen's beautiful drawings for the penultimate shot in the video. I had the idea of drawing a roasted garlic su...

hello hello, here is the full song and all of the stems for "there is a rock in my house"!This video has made me start practicing the recorder a lot more. I'm getting pretty good at Wind Waker's title screen music.
there is a rock in my house - Behind the Scenes
Hello, folks! It's a new video that I wasn't really sure I wanted to post!Since it's another weird one, I don't have much in the way of bloopers or deleted scenes, so instead, here's a long post on how it came to be:This video is another strange departure from my normal style, and to be honest, I made it more for myself. I was feeling extremely rough—a mixture of burnout, and sadness, and anger at my burnout and sadness—while staring at the computer screen one day, and I ...

Hey hey hey it's almost the end of April and I'll be editing a video!STREAM WILL BE HERETOMORROW AT 2PM PSTI'll be working my way through RGSS, which was the song I made in the last process stream. So come through and watch me figure out what the heck I'm gonna do with this footage!
April Progress Report!
Hey everyone, we've got a progress report before a video this month, and that is because:I am very much feeling the fabled burnout. If I'm being perfectly honest with myself, this burnout has been creeping up on me ever since we started prepping for our move back in autumn. Kind of surprised it has taken this long! I've been making videos for years now, and while there have been moments of feeling sluggish and frustrated with my work, it's never been quite this bad.For a while, I ...
PATRON SURVEY & March Progress Report!
TLDR: If you'd like to help me make this patreon better, it'd be wonderful if you filled out this survey!I'll start this message off by saying, hey, whoa, I'm super glad that so many of you seemed to connect with "i wish that i could wear hats." It's always strange to share something you created with a large audience, but it's extremely strange to do that with something that's more vulnerable than you usually make, so it means a lot that people seem to like it...

songs with videos without videos | the spotify album version!
Hey folks! I know you could technically download all of this music in the other audio posts, but since I've just released this album on Bandcamp & Spotify (and all the others), I figured I'd upload them in album format as well! And here's a big ol' version of the album art, which I made in 20 minutes with the help of Photoshop's content aware fill tool:
i wish that i could wear hats | Song, Stems
here's the whole dang song and stems! enjoy the many phasing parts that i probably could have just recorded once and then vocoded to be different pitches, but instead decided to record all of the takes separately!
THE MAKING OF "i wish that i could wear hats"
haha whoops, i made a strangely serious video!as a result, i don't have much in the way of BTS vids or bloopers. so instead, i thought i'd walk you through the entire process of how i made this video, from idea to lyrics to music to filming to editing!WATCH HEREPASSWORD: toolongvideoconsidering how this is a ~48 minute video discussing the making of a ~2 minute video, there was a lot on my mind while making it. i hope some of you enjoy the insight into my process, or at least insight int...
A (long overdue) PROGRESS REPORT | Feb. 2022
Hello folks! I've been meaning to make this progress report for about two months now! Oopsie! It's been a hectic start to the year, as I've been trying to catch up on: My videos, since I've been scrambling to get them out earlier in the month. My writing work with Karen, since we've been working on more projects and are trying to get our own scripts in front of the right people. My taxes. Did you know that when you quit your job and have multiple streams of internet income and...
Breezy Slide DEMO
I know that these posts are usually filled with the actual song/stems from the video, but as I mentioned in the Blooper post, Louie gets to have the proceeds from the final song (which can be found on his bandcamp)! So instead, I wanted to post the little demo I sent to Louie when I was writing the lyrics to his basic track. The final song sounds VERY different from the original demo for a few major reasons: I am singing purely to show what the lyrics/melody/harmony sound like, so there are no fl...
Breezy Slide Bloopers
Louie and I finally made another song together, and this time we could hang out in person.BLOOPERS HEREpassword: citypopThis was probably the most fun I've had while shooting a video in a VERY long time. I guess that's pretty easy to do when the video is just hanging out with friends and filming silly dances while wearing fantastic suits.Since this song was Louie's idea (and since my main form of income is this Patreon), we decided that I'd get to post the video, but he'll ge...
Color correcting a video | Feb. Process Livestream
We're gonna color correct the HECK out of this video!LIVESTREAM STARTS TOMORROWFEB. 10TH AT 3PM PSTThis'll be a fun one to color correct, because it's super '80s and cheesy and silly! And just as a heads up, I'll be color correcting in Adobe Premiere, even though I keep watching videos about DaVinci Resolve and am extremely tempted to learn more about it. I really don't have time to completely learn a new video editing software, but BOY am I considering learning it after ...
