In the Hall of the Mountain King (D&D commission)
Making my biggest yet John Bauer tribute here, even without using any of the usual texturing flourishes that I lifted from the old man a while ago. Also, real heads will notice my new favorite screentone here ;)
CANTATA: few more characters
I'm still not even sure if the cat is actually IN the game, but if memory serves, think this baby was the very first Cantata character portrait I finished!
Evil Dead 2 (poster commission)
I know you freaks are gonna love this one, so it's available as print here! :DRed:Black and white:Original:
CANTATA: Rebels of the Unified Spirit
The first character here was authorized to become a homage to Devas from First Knife, and I actually got to design their full body for the in-game sprite. You can catch a glimpse of them in the game's trailer!
Ramba Ral and MS-07B Gouf (commission)
Been trying to get this gift commission done for almost a year T__T, and now my boy Ramba is finally here! The composition references a specific page from Gundam The Origin manga, but I can't really call this a full-blown homage. Also, this probably does double-duty as cover for upcoming Gundam zine!Color:BW:
CANTATA: The People of Sun and Shadow
I should draw weird creatures more often!
CANTATA: The 111th Reign of Humanity and Prosper
The human faction of Cantata echoes quite a few of stylistic choices that I made in my own take on Dune (the series of illustration was basically what got me hired for Cantata in the first place!)
CANTATA is live!
Big day, big release (well, in small bean game development terms, that is XD). I wish I was in a better place mentally to properly enjoy the day, but even in my sorry state I can feel tiny corpuscles of joy flowing into my veins. You could get the game on Steam right now, and I would really appreciate your purchases and opinions on the game and my work in it. As for this Patreon - a series of posts with ALL the big characters portraits made by me for the game is coming here this week ^___^ (so mo...
CRUSADER #1 variant cover
I actually showed this cover here back in last December, but now it FINALLY makes sense to show it with all of its actual comics regalia, in full color and dressing (with color process above)! So yeah - coming out September 6th from Mad Cave, Crusader #1 by Matt Emmons is gonna have a variant cover from yours truly - limited to just 100 copies and available here!
Bestiraty II
More of these!
Female Furies (Mister Miracle #8 homage commission)
HOOOH MAMA, that was a tough one to pull off, but I think I managed to get to the other side almost unscathed! Was really firing at all cylinders here, and still only managed to fit 2 or 3 less characters that the old man did--(Completely coincidentally, another Mister Miracle homage featuring Female Furies came up on my schedule right before this one, so I made a little joke and drew Bernadeth in the same position and with same design on both of them!)Original:
Cantata coming out on Aug 15th!
Well, now when the new trailer for Cantata is released (and game itself will follow it be!) and the big triptych used in it is out there in the wild, I thought I might share the coloring process for the piece! You could see how much I was struggling with the palette, tone and aerial perspective there - especially because I was trying to keep the big vista in the background (which I drew separately!) intact. But I think it all worked out pretty well at the end!(original pieces of the triptych are...
RIDER JUMP, RIDER KICK!
Well, you should've known that this was gonna happen, too ^___^ Available in 3 different print versions! And btw - the original is already sold! But if you feel like getting more Kamen Rider art, or maybe a Shin Ultraman commission - don't hesitate to reach out.
Shin Kamen Rider (NOT a commission, huh!)
I watched the movie last Saturday, and my mind and body been buzzing with prana ever since. There's something truly elating to me in this film - the grit and grittiness, comedic brutality of violence and emotional honesty of its characters' heroism - that just gets to me at this moment of time.I was crying Ichimonji's tears, and I knew I'm gonna watch the movie 10 times more. So, after spending most of Sunday working, I decided to take the Monday off - and drew this piece, just fo...
Mister Miracle #10 homage commission
Lord help me, I'm back on my Kirby bullshit! <3 It's gonna be a few more of these in the next few months, and my heart is literally racing thinking of them all.B/W:Original art:
Grease ice
We ended up not going to Montenegro, after all (C'est la vie! Also, we're still gonna go there for the Herzeg Novi festival in September *fingers crossed*); instead, I'm working on something pretty weird!Above is "before", and below is "after":(Been a while since I've gotten any feasible amount of comments here - people, are you even alive? :D)
Disco Elysium POSTER
This commission been one of the few I've been really intimidated by while also really, REALLY looking forward to - and as I kept thinking of it, and then actually sketching it and finalizing it, week weeks passing between each of the stages, its complexity grew in my mind. Thus, a full color poster version! Because I really enjoy working in color nowadays. Available as print here, btw, along with the most recent colored version of my Silent Hill 3 one-pager by Dillon Snook ;)Oh, but keeping u...
Disco Elysium commission
Harry DuBois and the three good fellas - Visual Calculus, Perception, and ShiversSketch/final:
The People (inks/colors, all pages)
XINO #2 is finally out, so I think it's a good time to remind you about this comic by sharing all of its pages in colors. And now, process freaks, when you feel the craving to actually READ the whole thing - go and snatch the issue in your nearest comicbook store! ^___^
Frog Knight (pin-up commission)
Had an immense pleasure of drawing a pin-up for Armand Bodnar's Frog Knight comic series. Check out Armand's work, and stay tuned for the book!Black and white:Gilded:
The Knight of Cups (tattoo design)
Missing my friends back in Russia so much, but at least I know that they continue covering themselves with tattoos designed by me ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Final Fantasy XIV player character commission
I'm really sorry for being somewhat absent from this Patreon page this month - personally printing the two of my long-awaited (by myself XD) fanzines, and then promoting them definitely took its toll, and now the heat wave hitting Europe and our attempt to go on a week-long trip to Montenegro at the end of the week (at the peak of the fucking heat wave!) is definitely gonna finish the job of killing me.But even if I'm dead, I will be back this week, and then a week after that with more a...
New zines! In the flesh!!!
Just gonna leave a couple of links here ;)ohotnig.gumroad.comohotnig.gumroad.com/l/SoulsPrint3ohotnig.gumroad.com/l/star_print
A Bestiary
While there's no comics progress to show yet, let's have a bit of TTRPG Bestiary fun, eh? This one's gonna be a 50 characters/creatures commitment.(Yes, I'm addicted to finding ways to draw work in nice little sketchbooks, and you can do nothing about it!)
B.P.R.D. - The Warning (commission)
Continuing with my completely asinine plan of having a commission done for every seminal volume of Hellboy OR B.P.R.D. - and this one is a doozy <3
Originals
Some original art I have for sale right now. $200-400 a piece, DMs always open ;)Can't even show half of these online, because they haven't been properly revealed yet!And yeah, I'm not selling any of my recent comics originals yet, mostly because I'm just about to give up and go try to partner up with some original art vendor again. Without a representative, I feel like my commissions well is about to dry up (especially with twitter and IG becoming more and more useless for getti...
Future commissions
A bit of a housekeeping and update on my current commissions list: I’m hoping to have everything from my current pile of commissions requets done in June-July, so we can start thinking about getting some new art pieces in! Including these already existing sketches (some already shown here before), each of which coould easily become yours 🙏🏻😌Darkseid (New Gods #7 homage) / Dai Dark /Tetsuo from Akira / Chainsaw Man (new group of characters) /Venom or Carnage / Kain from Legacy of Kain ...
Incredible things are happening in Xino
Little addendum to this post - even more colored work from Jason (along with previously shown pages in 100% finalized colors). This really feels like two Lego parts perfectly clicking together - never before me and Jason were so perfectly in sync as we are here <3Page 4 especially blows my mind, again and again - all my attempts at pulling off a sort of "painterly Corben" "but only with my limited techniques" could've easily backfired to my face, but instead the page truly sin...
